Writing

Term 4 2015
This term we will be focusing on any gaps in our writing ability, as identified in our end of term 3 writing assessment. This will include using a wider variety of punctuation including speech marks.

The genre of writing will vary again but I hope to include newspaper writing, some poetry and stories.

Term 3 2015
Again this term, room 19 will write a variety of genres. It could be a story, a poem, a letter, a report, instructions, the list is endless. Through this we will focus on what children need to do to improve their writing, as per their next steps sent home with the mid year report. Please keep a look out for more work being added here.

Term 2 2015
This term, room 19 will focus on creating experiences that children can write about. The genre that is produced will vary dependent on what is appropriate. It could be a story, a poem, a letter, a report, instructions, the list is endless. Through this we will focus on what children need to do to improve their writing, eg making sure it makes sense, is punctuated, contains interesting words, etc.



In term 1 we will be trying to motivate children to write by looking at cartooning. We hope to have a visit from a cartoonist in term 2.  Children will be writing stories and turning them into cartoons.  There are heaps of websites for children to play on.  Click on the link for some we might be using.
