Maths - Term 4

This term we will be learning:

  • place value including decimals
  • strategies to add, subtract, multiply and divide
  • problem solving using the strategies we know
  • transformations of shapes, eg symmetry, rotations, flips and slides
  • any other gaps identified that we can fit in.


Maths - Term 3

We aim to learn the following in term 3:
  • adding and subtracting money (not done term 2)
  • finding fractions of numbers and shapes
  • 2 and 3d shape properties
  • measuring weight, capacity and temperature

Maths - Term 2

We aim to learn the following in term 2:


  • probability/chance of something happening
  • maps and direction
  • groupings of 2,3,5&10 in numbers to 100 and find remainders
  • calculate divisions by drawing arrays
  • practice times tables and basic facts
  • problem solving
  • multiplying and dividing by ten and a hundred
  • doubling and halving
  • adding and subtracting money
  • looking for patterns in numbers
  • continuing spatial, sequential patterns and finding the rule it follows
  • apply units of time
  • read an analogue clock using am and pm
  • 24 hour clock times and digital clocks
  • calculating time elapsed using an analogue clock
  • reading and using timetables and calendars




In Maths in term 1, room 19 will be learning
  • basic facts
  • families of facts
  • to match numbers to words
  • to order numbers
  • to compare numbers
  • to recognise odd and even numbers
  • to recognise the value of each digit in a number
  • to round to 10/100
  • to estimate
  • to use number lines to add and subtract, including with money
  • to practise 2,5,10,3 and 4 times tables
  • to measure length, perimeter and area
  • to understand the statistical inquiry - writing questions, collecting data, presenting information such as bar, line and pictographs and interpreting them.

Mathletics tasks will be set each week from early in the term.
